Less Travel Is So Much More |

We'll play devil's advocate here to argue why this increasing suspension travel phase is out of control. So here's a bulleted list of why the "Just because it feels good doesn't make it right" wisdom is actually true: MORE TRAVEL (140mm - 160mm)
- Isn't really always needed, it just feels more comfortable
- More sag, more negative travel - less easy to get the front wheel off the ground
- Reduces the need for rider skill
- In compensating for rider skill it let's you get a little lazier
- The bike does nearly all of the work
- This feeds into the "One bike does it ALL" scenario
- Trendy - trendy - trendy - trendy - trendy
- Your mother would ask: "So if your friends hucked off a cliff, you would huck too?" applies
- Lemmings - lemmings - lemmings - lemmings
- Glory seekers, image oriented
- YES, it will make you faster on the descents - that we concede
LESS TRAVEL (110mm - 130mm) - Lets you still connect with & feel out the trail
- Snappy suspension
- Quick, responsive
- Grooms for developing greater rider skills
- This is enough for the majority of rider - let's be honest now
- Counter -trend oriented (don't let trends persuade you)
- You know what is actually best for you
Notice that we're not arguing against axle-to-crown lengths (aka ride heights) because we don't feel that aspect has negative effects. We like tall forks. We try it all. That's worth something, right?
